Bright Side of the Madness

Unless you’ve been sleeping for the last 20 years or so, you’d be hard pressed not to admit the world is flushing itself down the toilet bowl of amorality, decadence, self-centeredness, wickedness, celebrity adoring, and mayhem.

If your moral center can stand it, just spend a few days reading the newspapers, tabloid magazines, looking at what’s on television or in the movies, video games, fashion trends, etc., etc. You will see that society has lost all sense of what is right, what is wholesome, what is positive, what is encouraging, what is decent, and loving.  Yes, if we look hard enough these positive qualities can be found, especially if we look in the homes of truly saved believers. But society as a whole is clearly in the hands of the enemy.

However, if we believe Jesus is coming back to indeed take the faithful in a twinkling of an eye (1 Corinthians 15:52; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17) then we must believe in preparing for that day by not falling into the trap of supporting or being part of the madness. Wickedness and chaos is all around us, but therein presents the bright side of opportunity.

If we can see what is happening to this world then we can see that we have an opportunity to make a choice not to be part of it. By doing so we set ourselves up to be among the group that can live peacefully in spite of the world’s deviant calamity because we believe we shall have eternal peace in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Lord knows it is hard, but we must make a choice every day to live for the love of God by living to love each other and conducting ourselves worthy of that privilege; saying “no” to the world and “yes” to righteousness.
